St. Michael’s Prep is looking for a school nurse substitute to serve as the health and wellness expert for our school. This position serves approximately 500 students in grades PreK-8th grade on the lower campus and approximately 400 students in grades 9-12 on the upper campus. This is a part-time non-exempt, hourly/on-call position, with the opportunity to work 10 months of the year.
Provide quality nursing care to ill or injured students or faculty/staff during the school day Have experience with diabetic children and their daily health care needs. Have experience with managing other unique medial conditions. Have experience with managing a peanut “aware” environment. Provide quality nursing care to ill or injured students or faculty/staff during the school day. Provide health information and in-service programs on health topics to students, parents, and faculty. Manage school health records in accordance with the State of Texas, as well as the Diocese of Austin requirements. Maintain accurate medical records to assure compliance with state mandates including immunizations, physical examinations, and medical conditions. Initiate contact with, and act as a liaison between, home, school, community health agencies and the private medical sector to enhance the health and wellness of the school community. Maintain electronic health records within the school website system. (Experience with Magnus). Maintain communication with administrators, teachers, staff, and school families to enhance cooperative action, which will meet the health and safety needs of the students. Aid in the development and maintenance of school health policies. Coordinate student health curriculum with physical education department. Multitask and manage well the simultaneous needs of diabetic students and medication or first aid administration to other students.
