Position Overview As the Special Education Teacher, you will support students in both the general education classroom through co-teaching and in small-group or individualized settings based on each student's unique needs. Areas of instruction and intervention may include: Reading Mathematics Social skills Emotional regulation Behavioral support Executive functioning This role is ideal for an educator who enjoys building relationships, collaborating with colleagues, and helping students develop the confidence and skills needed to thrive.
Provide specialized instruction aligned with each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP). Collaborate with general education teachers through an inclusive co-teaching model. Deliver small-group and individualized instruction based on student needs. Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and accommodations. Collect and analyze student progress data to inform instruction. Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with families and multidisciplinary teams. Foster a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment. Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with federal, state, and district special education regulations.
Bachelor's degree in Special Education (Master's degree preferred). Valid Maryland Special Education teaching certification or eligibility to obtain certification. Experience working with high school students preferred. Knowledge of IEP development, progress monitoring, and differentiated instruction. Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills. Passion for helping students achieve academic and personal success.
