Head Start Substitute Classroom Assistant

This on-Call position assists the teacher or teacher aide with daily classroom and kitchen routines, including supporting children's health routines like hand washing and meal service cleanup. The assistant also interacts with children developmentally appropriately, maintains required adult-To-Child ratios, and reports suspected child abuse.

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or ged plus one year of experience working with children aged birth to five years old, and must pass required state and/Or federal background checks. Essential requirements include demonstrating compassion for low-Income populations, obtaining necessary certifications like first aid/Cpr and food worker permit within 90 days, and being physically capable of matching the activity level of young children.
