The Assistant Teacher is responsible for ensuring daily activities and interactions align with the program's mission and goals, including assisting in planning and implementing early childhood activities based on the Preschool HighScope curriculum. This role also requires maintaining a clean, nurturing, and safe environment that supports the growth and development of preschool children.
Candidates must possess an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, or equivalent qualifications such as a CDA or related degree with ECE credits, and must be enrolled in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree if not already qualified. Essential physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 60 pounds unassisted and maintain prolonged standing, bending, and floor sitting postures, alongside demonstrating cultural competency and the ability to handle crisis situations.

An Associate Degree (AA) in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, an Associate Degree in a related field, with 12 credit hours in Early Childhood Education, a Preschool Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA) or a state awarded certificate that meets or exceeds the requirements for a CDA credential and enrolled in a program that will lead to an associate or baccalaureate degree, or are enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years of the time of hire. Knowledge and understanding of early childhood development and the ability to implement developmentally appropriate curriculum practices and previous experience working with preschool children in a classroom setting.
