Job description

  • Dyersburg State Community College invites applicants for Criminal Justice adjunct instructors for day, evening, and online classes held in Dyersburg, Covington, Paris, or at one of our other off-campus centers.
  • Initial assignment may be at one of our teaching locations, but the official work station assignment may change each semester.
  • The successful applicant will become certified and fully use the course management system (eLearn) for all classes.
  • The applicant will also attend required meetings, report attendance, early alert notifications, and final grades prior to the established deadline, and will communicate curriculum and personnel needs or changes as appropriate to their assigned chair/dean.
  • This position reports to the Chair of Business & Technology and the Dean of Arts, Sciences, & Technologies.

Duties and Responsibilities

Teach assigned courses for discipline in Covington, Dyersburg, and/or Paris; prepare course materials; evaluate student learning, maintain class records, and submit required reports on time.

Working Conditions

  • Sedentary: Desk work; occasional travel may be required for college or program activities. Insignificant effort other than normal movement.
  • Minimal
  • Hazard/Exposure: Standard office settings. At least minimal environment controls to assure health and comfort.

Required Qualifications

Transfer courses

Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with 18 graduate semester hours in Criminal Justice required.

Non-transfer courses

Bachelor’s degree with previous teaching experience or graduate work required.

Ability to communicate effective with students and other college personnel required.
