Day habilitation trainers assist participants with barriers to independence by engaging them in community activities such as shopping, swimming, and volunteering. This direct support role also involves helping clients develop various life skills and completing daily documentation on participant progress.

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or ged and be at least 18 years old, requiring six months of full-Time employment in a related field, which can be substituted by a bachelor's degree in several specified fields. Applicants also need a reliable vehicle, a valid driver's license, proof of auto insurance, and must pass background checks.
