Core responsibilities
The school social worker supports students and families facing crises, abuse, neglect, and social-Emotional needs affecting academic achievement by facilitating meetings and coordinating services with external agencies like child protective services and juvenile justice. Essential functions include maintaining caseloads, providing brief assessments to develop action plans, serving as a point-Of-Contact for staff, and acting as a liaison for essa subgroups, mckinney-Vento, and migrant students.
Requirements summary
Minimum qualifications require a master's degree in social work or a related field, along with one year of documented social work field experience, including coursework equivalent to human behavior in the social environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Other requirements include three years of field experience, proficiency in microsoft office/Web, and the ability to clear a required background check.
