Core responsibilities
The behavioral support specialist will use best practices to teach individuals with developmental disabilities the skills needed for independent living, which includes observing interactions, creating prevention and support plans, and completing functional assessments. Responsibilities also involve training staff on plan implementation, preparing progress reports, and actively participating in the inter-Disciplinary team (Idt) for individual habilitation plan development.
Requirements summary
Candidates must be able to handle public training pressure, exercise patience, work flexibly, and respond calmly to crises, utilizing ingenuity in determining support methods. A bachelor's degree is preferred, and obtaining registered behavior technician certification within 90 days of employment is mandatory, along with possessing a valid driver's license.
