Job description

The Country School Teacher provides individualized, standards-aligned instruction to students with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a structured, supportive educational environment. This role is responsible for implementing IEPs, delivering differentiated instruction, and utilizing effective behavior supports to promote student growth across academic, functional, social, and behavioral domains.

Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, the teacher ensures compliance with educational requirements while fostering a safe, engaging, and therapeutic classroom environment. This position also plays a key leadership role by guiding instructional staff and supporting the overall success and well-being of students.

  • Your Role & Responsibilities –
  • Deliver individualized, standards-based instruction aligned with each student’s IEP, utilizing differentiated teaching strategies and behavior supports
  • Develop and maintain student documentation, including lesson plans, progress reports, IEP reports, data tracking, and communication logs
  • Participate in IEP meetings, behavior reviews, and interdisciplinary team meetings to support student progress and program development
  • Collaborate with therapists, support staff, and outside providers to ensure consistent and effective student programming
  • Supervise, train, and support Teacher Aides to ensure high-quality instructional delivery and a cohesive classroom environment
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, Department of Education standards, and applicable regulations while maintaining student safety and well-being

Qualifications

  • –
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Valid California Education Specialist Credential (or equivalent) or eligibility to obtain an Emergency California Teaching Credential
  • 2+ years of experience working with students with intellectual and developmental disabilities in an educational or therapeutic setting
  • Experience implementing IEPs, differentiated instruction, and behavior support strategies
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and organizational skills with the ability to manage classroom staff and student needs effectively
