The Manville School, a highly successful and reputable educational program, is seeking a Special Education Assistant Teacher. The Assistant Teacher provides academic and behavioral support to students while carrying out curriculum instruction within the classroom under the supervision of the special education teacher. The Assistant Teacher supports implementation of lessons and carries out curriculum instruction, tailored to meet students’ specific learning needs/behavioral profiles. The Assistant Teacher actively participates in academic instruction and classroom management, while learning and applying effective evidence-based behavior management techniques. Essential duties
Plans and implements individualized and small group lessons in specific curriculum areas (1-2 content areas) under the supervision of the special education teacher in the classroom.
In conjunction with the classroom team (lead teacher and behavior support personnel), develop and implement classroom behavior management plan appropriate to the age and social/emotional levels of students.
Actively participates in the daily operation of the classroom, including academic instruction and classroom management.
