Position Summary

The After-School Program Staff Member is responsible for providing a safe, structured, engaging, and supportive environment for students during after-school hours. Staff members supervise students, assist with tutoring and enrichment activities, support positive behavior, and ensure students remain safe and accounted for at all times.

Hours

Typically Monday–Friday, 3:15 PM–6:00 PM. Flexible scheduling may be available based on program needs and staff availability.

This position is to start when the 2026 - 2027 school year starts.

  • Essential Responsibilities Student Supervision & Safety Maintain active supervision of assigned students at all times.
  • Ensure students are safe, engaged, and following program expectations.
  • Assist with attendance, transitions, dismissal procedures, and student accountability.
  • Immediately report any safety concerns, injuries, behavioral incidents, or emergencies to the After School Director.
  • Help maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students.

Academic Support Assist students with homework, tutoring activities, and academic enrichment. Encourage student participation and effort during tutoring sessions. Support students in developing organizational, study, and problem-solving skills. Reinforce school-day academic and behavioral expectations.

Enrichment & Engagement Lead or assist with hands-on activities, games, clubs, recreation, arts, STEM projects, and other enrichment opportunities. Encourage creativity, teamwork, leadership, and student engagement. Help prepare materials and clean up activity areas as needed. Participate actively in activities rather than simply supervising from a distance.

Communication & Professionalism Maintain positive relationships with students, families, and fellow staff members. Communicate concerns, observations, and student needs to the After School Director. Follow all school and after-school program policies and procedures. Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, and punctuality.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience working with children in educational, recreational, childcare, camp, or youth development settings preferred. Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage student behavior in a positive and productive manner.
