Curriculum: Implement a comprehensive social studies curriculum aligned with state standards and school objectives. A project-based learning curricular approach is utilized at the school. Effective Instruction: Deliver engaging and interactive lessons that promote critical thinking, historical inquiry, and active participation. Differentiate instruction to accommodate various learning styles and abilities. Assessment and Feedback: Design and administer formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents. Classroom Management: Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning. Set clear expectations for behavior and classroom routines. Leverage restorative practices, where appropriate/ Parent and Community Engagement: Foster open communication with families through regular updates, conferences, and involvement in school events. Engage with the local community to enhance the social studies program. Professional Development: Stay current with educational trends, research, and best practices in social studies education. Attend professional development opportunities to continually improve teaching skills. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, department members, and administrators to align curriculum, share resources, and maintain a positive school culture. QualificationsQualifications: Valid Connecticut 026 History & Social Studies, 4–12 certification. Bachelor's degree in education, social studies, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Strong knowledge of social studies content, curriculum development, and instructional strategies. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
