Job Description

The Athletic Trainer position is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of athletic training/sports medicine services for an NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics program with secondary sport coverage as determine by the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine. Located in the beautiful city of Fort Collins, Colorado State University is a premier land-grant university with world-class programs in education, outreach, and research. The Colorado State University Department of Athletics sponsors 16 men’s and women’s intercollegiate sports and competes as a member of NCAA Division I-FBS and the Pac-12 Conference. Essential Job Duties: Responsible for primary athletic training sport coverage for sport(s) as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine Provide clinical evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses under the general supervision of the designated team physician and in accordance with standards of the NATABOC and state regulatory board Maintain current certification and credentials consistent with NATABOC and state regulatory agency requirements Coordinate physician referrals as part of the injury management process Maintain accurate and up-to-date written treatment and injury records in accordance with established medical documentation standards Maintain open lines of communication with coaching staff, team physicians and medical providers Assist in the development and integration of sports medicine policies and procedures as they relate to the operation of athletic training services, including EAPs and game day EMS Other responsibilities as assigned by Director of Athletics or supervisor Supervision: This position may assist with supervision of student volunteers or student hourly employees when applicable.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in health and exercise science, sports medicine, kinesiology, anatomy or related field Current BOC certification required Minimum of one year of previous experience as a certified athletic trainer Current license as an athletic trainer with the State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) required prior to the start date of employment High level of clinical athletic training skills, effective communication, and ability to work effectively with a team-based approach Ability to manage competing and urgent priorities and meet deadlines in a high demand profession Ability to respond professionally and competently in emergency situations
