Tutoring & Academic Support Provide individualized and small-group tutoring to health science students. Demonstrate mastery of course content to effectively support student learning. Assist students in developing study strategies specific to health science coursework. Reinforce understanding of complex concepts through guided practice and review. Workshops & Student Success Programming Develop and facilitate workshops in collaboration with health science faculty, including: Study skills and note-taking for health science students Managing large assignments and clinical preparation Reading and comprehension for college-level and technical texts Time management and school–work–life balance Student success strategies and program expectations Work with faculty to design and deliver peer group sessions aligned with course objectives. Adapt workshop content to meet the needs of health science students. Collaboration & Program Support Collaborate consistently with faculty to advance student retention and success in health science courses. Partner with faculty to develop targeted workshops and peer-led learning sessions. Contribute to program initiatives that strengthen student engagement, persistence, and completion. Participate in meetings, planning efforts, and coordination with faculty and staff. Training & Professional Development Complete pre-service training for tutoring certification. Participate in ongoing professional development related to tutoring, student success strategies, and nursing education support. Technology & Academic Skills Support Assist students with: Canvas Learning Management System University systems and applications Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Provide support for presentations and academic projects. Introduce students to digital and creative tools for learning (e.g., video creation, basic media tools). Additional Program Support Duties Provide support as needed in: Skills lab assistance Basic office tasks and program upkeep Maintaining organized learning and tutoring spaces Assist with general program operations to support student learning environments. Outreach & Engagement Participate in outreach activities, special events, and student engagement efforts. Promote tutoring services to health science students. Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment. Work Location Rio Grande Hall – UNM Taos Campus
