Core responsibilities
The teacher is responsible for setting the instructional tone, developing standards-Based individual education plans (Ieps), and implementing activities that promote academic, behavioral, communication, social, independence, and vocational skill development for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities or autism. This role also involves completing state and specific student assessments, supervising support staff, and managing student behavior, including crisis situations.
Requirements summary
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in education and a valid teaching license, along with fulfilling highly qualified status requirements. A special education license is preferred, and experience in special education is desired, with a minimum age requirement of 21.
