- Category: EducationCharlotte Latin School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Middle School English Teacher to join our faculty beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year. This full-time, 10-month position offers the opportunity to ignite students' curiosity. Our Middle School English curriculum includes reading comprehension and analytical abilities, composition skills, grammar, and vocabulary. The ideal candidate will bring a student-centered approach to the classroom, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and a lifelong love of reading and writing.
- Responsibilities include: Teach four sections of Middle School English, two preparations Serve as a Middle School advisor to approximately 12 Middle School students Work collaboratively and effectively with peers in support of student achievement and curriculum development Within course teams, collaborate with colleagues toward consistency in grading practices Assess students’ performance and provide feedback in a timely and consistent manner Attend department, division, and grade-level meetings Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current within the field Commitment to academic excellence, interdisciplinary and experiential learning, and advancing the mission, core values, and strategic plan of the school Perform other related duties, such as club advisor, recess supervisor, carpool, class trip, etc., as required and assigned by the Head of Middle School Supervisory

- QualificationsEducation and
- Experience: Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field is required; Master’s degree preferred Experience teaching English; Middle School experience preferred Skills An understanding of and appreciation for the developmental stages of middle school students Personal traits appropriate for nurturing the growth of early adolescents - must be energetic, creative, flexible, patient, and have a sense of humor Ability to promote critical and creative thinking Fluency in multiple student-centered instructional approaches Demonstrate capacity and desire to teach across multiple disciplines/subject areas Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong initiative, classroom management, and organizational skills Proficient use of technology to support education Experience as an academic advisor Desire to contribute to student life outside the classroom Experience in and desire to build culture and community with both adults and students Proven dedication to professional growth and purpose-driven practice A philosophical alignment with our core values and curriculum, which can be found on our website: www.charlottelatin.org including a commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. Working Conditions and Environment Intermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds. Continuously see, sit, balance, grasp, and have repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity. Frequently talk and hear. Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs, step stools and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders. Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor temperatures of heat and cold. Long or odd hours, as needed.
