  • Charlotte Campus - Charlotte, NC 28277Charlotte Latin School is seeking caring, energetic, and dependable on-call Substitute Teachers for our Extended Day Program during the 2025–2026 school year. Substitute teachers will support, lead, and supervise a variety of after-school activities on an as-needed basis.
  • Typical shifts are from 1:00–3:30 p.m. or 3:30–6:00 p.m., with additional opportunities available on designated teacher workdays.
  • On these days, shifts may range between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The After-school substitute will perform a variety of duties, including, but not limited to the following: Maintain good classroom management Assist other teachers with preparing daily classroom duties Help collect daily attendance Implement the lesson plan and partner with students in arts, crafts and other creative activities (outlined by absent teacher) Implement as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the after-school program Lead and participate in outdoor and indoor games Walk students to and from various locations on campus Assist and guide students with homework assignments Prepare and serve snacks to students Assist with carpool or bus duty Serve as a positive role model for students Maintain confidentiality of all information concerning students, parents, and members of staff Leave a written note to absent teacher summarizing the day and any related student/parent concerns QualificationsQualifications Previous experience working with school-age children preferred. Skills Exhibit a love of working with children in this age group. Possess an understanding of age-appropriate activities. Have the ability to build a strong rapport with students and colleagues. Serve as a collaborative team player. Flexibility to shift focus on the spur of the moment, in working with colleagues and students, and in sharing classroom space. Clear communication with colleagues and parents Commitment to safety, and civility. Working Conditions and Environment Intermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds. Continuously see, sit, balance, grasp, and have repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity. Frequently talk and hear. Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs, step stools and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders. Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor temperatures of heat and cold. Long or odd hours, as needed.
