Ascension Catholic Church, Chesterfield is seeking a part-time Lead Preschool Teacher for ages 4–5 who provides a nurturing, faith-filled, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. Rooted in Catholic values, this role integrates spiritual, social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development while fostering a love of learning and respect for self and others.
Model and promote Catholic values, prayer, and moral development in the classroom.
Participate in school liturgies, prayer services, and religious instruction as appropriate for preschool level.
Collaborate with families to support the faith formation of each child.
Instruction & Curriculum
Plan and implement daily lessons that support the holistic development of preschool children, aligning with diocesan early childhood standards.
Use play-based and hands-on learning experiences to promote curiosity and creativity.
Differentiate instruction to meet individual needs and learning styles.
Integrate faith, literacy, math, science, art, and social-emotional learning into the curriculum.
Classroom Environment & Management
Create a safe, welcoming, and engaging classroom that encourages independence and cooperation.
Establish routines and positive behavior expectations grounded in respect and Christian values.
Observe and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records and communicating regularly with parents.
Collaboration & Professionalism
Work closely with assistant teachers, colleagues, and administration to ensure a cohesive early childhood program.
Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school-wide activities.
Communicate effectively with parents through conferences, newsletters, and daily interactions.
State teaching certification and/or diocesan certification (preferred).
Experience teaching or working with preschool-aged children.
Active, practicing Catholic preferred; commitment to supporting Catholic values required.
Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
