YMCA Reston - Swim Instructor (Basic, Intermediate and Advance)

Swim instructors are responsible for ensuring safety procedures are followed, maintaining class control, developing practical lesson plans, and evaluating participant stroke technique throughout the session. Instructors must also keep accurate records of skills, progress, and attendance, providing evaluations with recommendations for level progression.

Requirements vary by level, ranging from being 16 years old for basic to 18 years old and having 4 years of aquatics teaching experience for advance. All levels require an outgoing personality, reliability, and a positive mentality, while higher levels require specific swim lesson certifications and more extensive teaching experience.
