Special Education Teacher

The special education teacher is responsible for implementing the assigned program of study, developing and implementing individualized education programs (Ieps), and monitoring student progress toward instructional objectives. They must also maintain classroom order, counsel pupils on academic and adjustment issues, and communicate progress and behavior with parents.

Candidates must possess a bachelor's or master's degree in education or a related field, along with a virginia state teaching license with the appropriate special education endorsement. Required abilities include effective verbal and written communication and establishing positive working relationships with students, staff, and parents.
