The role involves evaluating responses from teacher candidates in california according to established training and scoring guides, ensuring personal biases are set aside to apply the rubric requirements accurately. Scorers must meet established quality and productivity requirements and engage in consensus scoring activities with other scorers.

Candidates must be native speakers of the specified languages other than english (Lotes) and possess a college degree, or hold a graduate degree, a single subject teaching credential, or authorization to teach the corresponding language in california public schools. Prior experience as a scorer or committee member for cset language tests is also an acceptable qualification.
